Transition, to me, is like parole. It’s a chance to prove to everyone that has invested so much time in me that I can beat this issue. But more importantly its my chance to prove to myself that I can succeed at maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I can be a functional and motivated member of the healthy side of society.
Unfortunately I’ve fallen off the straight and narrow. I had been dabbling in petty crimes and finally my luck ran out. My parole has been revoked and I’m throwing myself back in the slammer.
The past nine days have been bad. Baaaaaad. Lots and lots of stress that pushed me to the limit. Let me give you a run-down:
Y’all…I’m up three pounds. I’ve had my first ever, honest to goodness gain. And it’s not like the gains I’ve had in the past where I’ve been right as rain the next day after lots of water. This one is a keeper…well, sort of.
Update: When I weighed in Monday I was up 3 pounds. As of Tuesday morning, I’ve lost 1.5 pounds. So I am up 1.5 pounds.
I let stress, birthday sadness and my insane, out-of-control fear of dental work (more on that later) get the better of me. These things will happen. My weight will fluctuate. But I need to be held accountable for my misconduct.
I am on house arrest. I need to get myself in check. Even though the total gain was not too bad, my eating patterns were terrible. The freedom has been very nice and lots of fun. But the whole point of this journey is to harness control over my choices and put them into action. I chose to get healthy and I am choosing to stay that way. I need to stay that way. I need to follow the rules and get this right. I need to stay on the straight and narrow and complete Transition by the book. I have my whole life ahead of me to enjoy the ‘fruits of life’ (reminder: wine is not a fruit).
I can get through the next month following Transition by the letter and that’s what I intend to do. I’m starting Week 3 over again (adding dairy). So I will have extra servings of veggies, fruit and dairy in addition to my Medifast meals this week. I will move on to Weeks 4-6, adding grains and more protein, next week. I’ll get back on track and stay there. I just have to keep trying.
